Rats and mice damage floors, doors, ceilings, and walls, due to their burrowing activity. They routinely gnaw on utility pipes and electrical wiring, causing fires, flooding, equipment malfunctions, and power shortages. They also contaminate and destroy enough food each year to feed 200 million people. They have been linked to plague, murine typhus, ricketsial pox, salmonellis, Rat-Bite fever, leptosperosis, and rabies. The (3) rodents that usually infest homes and businesses are the Norway Rat, the Roof Rat, and the House Mouse.
Norway Rat - A large, omnivorous rat that prefers meats, usually found at ground level. Extremely sensitive taste, smell, and hearing capabilities.
Roof Rat - A slender built, omnivorous rat that prefers seeds, fruits, and vegetables, usually found in upper floors of structures and in trees. Avid climber. Extremely sensitive taste, smell, and hearing capabilities.
House Mouse - Small, slender built rodent. Becasuse of its small requirement for food, water, and space it is the most widespread of all the rodents, and except for man, the most numerous mammal on earth.
Nutria Rat - Refer to our "BEAVERS" section above.
